Power Supply Design

A power supply design is the embodiment of the philosophy used to make a power supply that can perform its intended function. For example, the design engineer might decide to use a switching regulator for best efficiency, and then determines the circuit configuration to be used, the component values and the mechanical layout, taking into account such considerations as the packaging, wiring and thermal management.
