Power Input
The power input to a power supply is the power which enables it to function. It may be direct current (DC) that does not change polarity, such as the output of solar cells or a battery; or it may be alternating current (AC) that regularly changes polarity, such as from a power utility or a vehicle’s alternator. AC usually has a sinusoidal waveshape, but in certain instances it may alternately be a square wave.
